In an op-ed for the Financial Times, Dimensional Senior Client Solutions Director Wes Crill discussed the importance of investing in the stocks of small companies.
Crill emphasizes that the rationale for investing in small cap stocks is well established through “empirical record, academic literature, and decades of practical asset allocation.” But he notes that the recent outperformance of large companies may obscure the benefits of allocations to US and global small caps.
He goes on to share a variety of reasons why small caps belong in a diversified portfolio, including that a key mechanism responsible for the small cap premium is alive and well.
